profile, philosophy and, growth strategies
E&E Public Relations was founded in 1997
by Motoi Onari to offer a full range of public
relations and marketing
services to technology-based businesses. Launched with the goal
of fusing together the best practices of American public relations
and an in-depth understanding of the Japanese culture, the firm
quickly established itself as a leading Japanese PR firm with a
broad range of clients from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups.
By July of 1999, E&E Public Relations advanced to one of the
top three technology-based PR firms in Japan. Fueled by a growing
reputation for strong tactical execution with an eye towards global
strategy development, the firm was asked by several of its clients
to duplicate its Japanese results in the United States. In response,
E&E expanded its U.S. headquarters and began representing its
existing clients in both Japan and the U.S.
Today, E&E Public Relations has grown to a staff of 20 professionals
supporting 12 clients. E&E provides clients with strategic,
results-oriented public relations and marketing programs that help
them reach their intended targets – whether in a sharply
defined niche market like Japan or a broad global marketplace.
The firm’s programs are guided by research. They range from
traditional media relations to special event promotions and the
creation of marketing alliances and industry coalitions. E&E
is unique in that it offers clients Japanese and U.S. outreach
with the focus of a technology-based boutique agency.
Philosophy
E&E Public Relations can best be defined by its mission – To
always deliver high-value, high-impact communications services
that get results.
During the formative days of E&E Public Relations, its co-founders
recognized that traditional U.S.-based PR models had grown too
cumbersome to deliver meaningful results for high-tech start-ups
and/or fast-moving corporations. So they simply rewrote the rules – designing
a new client-focused model that results in a more powerful, flexible
and efficient PR approach for clients of all sizes.
By maintaining a small elite team comprised
of more proven PR pros than junior staffers, E&E Public Relations ensures that
every client works closely with at least one team member who has
ten or more years of PR experience. E&E’s automated budgeting
and project tracking approach allows senior staff to focus on delivering
meaningful results for clients.
Combining the accessibility and personal care
of a boutique agency with the longstanding media relationships
and expert strategic
counsel of the largest, most established PR firms, differentiates
E&E Public Relations’ U.S. service offerings from the
hoards of other firms vying for business. The firm recognizes that
the most innovative plan means nothing without the persistence
and expertise necessary to execute it. At E&E, the staff’s
passion for their clients’ shows in everything the firm does,
from daily media relations to in-depth strategic messaging. The
E&E team sets high standards and strives to always deliver
high-value, high-impact communications services that get results.

Growth Strategies
E&E Public Relations has seen amazing growth during a time when
other PR firms have been forced to reduce staff. Already one of the
top three technology agencies in Japan, E&E Public Relations
became one of Silicon Valley’s fastest growing PR agencies,
with more than 100 percent revenue growth from 2001 to 2002 and projected
growth of more than 125 percent in 2003. Today, E&E Public Relations
has grown to a staff of 20 professionals, in three offices, serving
12 clients.
Core to E&E Public Relations philosophy is
the idea that boutique agencies make high-value, agile partners
for technology firms. As
the firm enters 2004, it plans to shift from a rapid growth strategy
to a more targeted approach. To insure that the firm continues to
deliver on its mission to always deliver high-value, high-impact
communications services that get results, revenue growth for 2004
is targeted at 30 to 40 percent or projected total revenue of $2.1
million U.S. dollars.
To achieve these goals E&E is planning the
addition of another U.S.-based account team consisting of four
people focused on expanding
the firms growing intellectual property and advanced semiconductor
practice. The firm expects that growth will continue to be powered
by referral and the organic growth of existing client relationships.
